In
many cases, classic solid-state lasers with a rod-shaped active laser
medium suffer
from a typical setback: due to the inherent
engineering design principle, their beam
quality is significantly deteriorated by a
strong, so-called qiehermal lens.
A worldwide patented disc laser technology,
which uses a thin disc as the active laser
crystal, is able to essentially reduce the
disturbing thermal lens effect and stabilize
the laser crystal.
This yields a high, continuously consistent
beam quality even with varying output
powers.
Consequently, the innovative thin-disc lasers
from JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme
GmbH offer some additional key advantages
over traditional solid-state lasers:
- Efficient conductive cooling - no cooling water in laser!
- Excellent efficiency - due to minimized operating costs.
- Superb beam quality - for better suitability in high-power applications
and for
frequency conversion.
Based on this technology, air-cooled thin-disc
lasers for the green spectral range are
manufactured and sold in great commercial
lots.
JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH has licensed
this thin-disc laser working
principle from the University of Stuttgart.
It also holds a number of own international
patents on laser sources of this kind.
